The Bed and Breakfast Cabin at Cool Water Acres in Bandera, TX, is a comfortable one-bedroom vacation home located lakeside on a 54-acre ranch in the Texas Hill Country.
This historic cabin was built in 1870 and renovated in 1994. The original homestead belonged to the Kalka family — Polish settlers — and was used as a stagecoach shop.
1994 additions to the cabin include a full modern bath off the master bedroom and a new kitchen. Care was taken to preserve features such as the beams and an old stone fireplace.
Builders also repurposed elements of a neighboring building that had to be torn down — you can see them in the cabin’s weathered wood furnishings and beaded ceilings.
This cabin’s private bedroom is equipped with a queen-sized bed. There is room for one more to sleep in the main living area — a sitting room that connects to the kitchen and dining space.
As its name would suggest, our picturesque little Bed and Breakfast Cabin includes a complimentary morning meal. Fruit and farm-fresh eggs are provided for you upon arrival.
This cabin enjoys a beautiful location on our private ranch, about 50 feet from the edge of the lake, where you’ll have your own floating dock.
The Bed and Breakfast Cabin is also close to the barn — feel free to visit our collection of horses, chickens and farm cats!
The private lake at Cool Water Acres is spring fed and clear — great for swimming. The lake is about seven acres with a maximum depth of 20 feet. The setting is lovely and relaxing, with good seasonal fishing for sunfish, bluegill, catfish and bass.
There are two swim platforms where you can fish or bask in the sun. There is also a spillway where overflow water creates a 15-foot waterfall and pool during most of the year. We provide fishing poles, as well as a two-person pedal boat for exploring.
For the more serious fisherman, there is a small electric-powered bass boat available onsite. Other fun things to do at the ranch include hiking over varied terrain, searching the quarry for sea fossils, and watching for wildlife in the surrounding valley and hills.
