Our Barons Wagon at Barons CreekSide Swiss Village is the definitive Texas Hill Country glamping adventure. This 220-square-foot replica of a real Conestoga settler’s wagon features a unique open living space and a disconnected — but fully modern — heated bath house.
While the original model made it to Fredericksburg, Texas, more than 150 years ago, our Barons Wagon is the newest guest house addition to our resort grounds. This ultimate glamping experience is ideal for a small family, with one king-sized bed and a set of twin bunk beds.
The wagon’s convenient kitchenette includes a coffee maker (plus complimentary locally ground coffee), dishes and utensils, and an ice chest. Don’t be fooled by the old-world lantern light — this wagon does have working electrical outlets, and an electric blanket for cold nights.
The Wagon is set between large trees with its own fire pit, lawn chairs, charcoal grill and picnic table.
The Wagon shares resort grounds with 10 Swiss Log Cabins and four larger vacation homes. Our Swiss Village’s quiet, serene and secluded atmosphere is perfect for romantic getaways and special events. We welcome couple’s retreats of all kinds, as well as larger wedding parties.
Let us know all about your big day, and we can help you choose the perfect backdrop for your ceremony, find lovely photograph spots, and reserve our onsite Club for rehearsal dinners or receptions. We can even recommend local florists or caterers. The full resort hosts 52 guests.
During your stay at The Barons Wagon, you’ll find plenty to do and see — both onsite and in the larger Fredericksburg area. Here at the resort, we have a series of nature trails through the grounds and a vineyard you can stretch your legs on, as well as a convenient fishing spot at the nearby Barons Creek. Our resort dinner venue, The Club, offers live entertainment and European bistro-style dining on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday evenings. The Club is open to the public, so let us know during booking and we can reserve your table!
There are also a number of interesting day trips within a 20-minutes drive of The Wagon, including hiking at Enchanted Rock State Park; haunted tours of historic downtown Fredericksburg; and a shuttle tour through 40 local wineries starting at 290 Wine Road — complete with lunch stops along the way.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! We were lucky to book the wagon for our 10th anniversary this past weekend. We cannot believe how comfortable and roomy inside the wagon, and the outhouse is nicely done. We also spent the night at the CLUB for some music and the environment is very relaxing! Also met the owner Daniel, he is super funny and very welcoming. He did an amazing job with this place, we took a nice walk around the property and every cabin is very uniquely designed, we can’t wait to go back another time to check them out. — Liv Ford
We absolutely loves our stay here! We were looking for a quiet, romantic place to stay for our 20 year anniversary and I'm so glad we cancelled our hotel stay and changed it to here. The Club had a very welcoming atmosphere for all age groups. Sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch morning and night was so relaxing. We even ventured down the nature trail. We saw so many fireflies, it was magical! I haven't see those in years. It was also nice how easy it is to check in and out here. This will be on our list to come visit again. J & S
Love you place cant wait to cime back...beautiful. Charles A. Trexler
The location was great, close enough and far enough from town. We stayed in the Lucerne cabin. It was lovely and perfect for a two night getaway. Deborah and Daniel were wonderful hosts. The cabin was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated and the craftsmanship was amazing! Will definitely go back! Jane Smith
The location was perfect. As soon as you stepped foot on the property you were transported to the countryside. However, you are so close to town if you need to run in or plan on walking down Main Street. The owners were wonderful and provided a fantastic experience. The cabins and grounds are so full of charm and detail. You can’t go wrong staying here. Arie Lyn
The most beautiful spot to stay in Fredericksburg! Well manicured property, clean lodging, perfect location - what else could you want? Great for couples, great for families, book it! Ciao Bella
Beautiful, unique, quaint log cabins! Perfect for couples. Brandon Kelley
Barons Creekside is beautiful, secluded and peaceful! My husband and I were only able to come for an overnight trip this time but we will definitely be back!! Reservations, check in and out were easy. The cabin was so cozy and welcoming. We are hoping to make this an annual destination. Well worth the drive if you are looking for a much needed trip away! Resort owner Dr. Daniel Meyer of Switzerland fell in love with the Texas Hill Country on a trip to the United States in 2006. After one night in what is now the Baron’s Log Cabin, he decided to buy the home and 26 acres of undeveloped pasture to create what would one day become the CreekSide Swiss Village in Fredericksburg.
Using historic design elements of his own 250-year-old Swiss farmhouse in Lucerne (such as its doors and windows) — along with the talents of Texas cabin builder Joey Johns and the teachings of a native Swiss craftsman, he set out to build his dream village one cabin at a time, filling them with genuine antiques along the way.
Daniel has since met his partner in the native Texan lady Deborah, who shares his passion for the resort. Barons CreekSide has been host to proposals, weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays, reunions and more. We invite you to stay and experience our slice of Swiss heaven, right in the heart of Texas.
